SUMMARY:

This project provides for the shared reading of the novel O crime do Cais do Valongo, by Eliana Alves Cruz, in the 1904 class of the Escola Municipal Ginásio Emilinha Borba, as a teaching task of reading the literary text beyond school activities in Portuguese Language classes in accordance with the curriculum guidelines and alread developed with the second segmento of Elementary Education. The teaching of literary reading open to interpretive possibilities that intertwine based on the wisdoms coming from plural paths will be the guiding activity of the entire project. Telling the story of black people forced to cross the Atlantic (called the “calunga grande”, in other words, the big cemetery) to be enslaved is a way to revive ancestral memory, knowing another versions for the same history. The goal is not to let them forget, in the task of not letting it be repeated. After all, “not forgetting is substantial for the invention of new beings, free and fighting any stalking of colonial power” (RUFINO, 2019, p.16). With this research i hope to observe students in sharing their subjective readings, in order to investigate wether (and how) the literary text will be updated, from the directions that cross at a crossroads point.
