Classroom analysis of the construction of Rio-Santos in Angra dos Reis: a debate between local history and History teaching

The research aims to develop teaching material that addresses the impact on the residents of Angra dos Reis of the construction of the Rio-Santos road. Due to the major transformations generated in the lives of Angra residents after the construction of the highway, we created material that addresses this striking fact in the residents' experience and that confronts different points of view about the work, investigating the positive and negative impacts of the road on the residents at the time and about students today, we also bring to discussion the use of the highway as a speech to promote the government during the dictatorial period, in conjunction with the construction of the nuclear power plant in the municipality. Our intention is to also address how the highway changed the ways of life of the local population, changed the location of housing and changed the economic activities carried out by the caiçara and quilombola population. The aim is to discuss how the city's history was intertwined with national history and government propaganda objectives at the time. To achieve this purpose, bibliographical contributions on the teaching of history and local history will be presented throughout the work, in addition to addressing the specific ways of treating this period and theme to students in Angra dos Reis. In addition, materials will be presented, mainly in digital files, related to this period and how they can be used for analysis in class. With the aim of reaching a wider audience, including students from the municipality of Angra dos Reis and History teachers interested in the topic, the final product of the dissertation will be an ebook containing sources on the construction period of Rio-Santos, along with suggestions for activities that can be carried out in the classroom. This material will be made available as an annex.
