Not to reduce history to (coffe) beans - The importance of tropeirismo in teaching history in the historic valley of São Paulo
History teaching, local history, São Paulo historical valley, identity
The research consists of a study of local history as a methodological approach in the teaching of history. It aims to develop a pedagogical proposal (or a didactic guide) focused on the local history of the Paraíba Valley region of São Paulo, more specifically the microregion of the “Historical Valley of São Paulo”, which includes the cities of Cruzeiro, Silveiras, Queluz, Areias, São José do Barreiro, Arapeí and Bananal. This didactic guide will focus on Tropeirismo and, from this, will seek to understand how the tropeiro culture and identity were essential for the development of the region, awakening in students the notion of temporalities and provoking a greater contextualization in high school history classes.
