SUMMARY:

The approach of sensitive themes of the present time in the classroom is a challenge for teachers in the discipline of History. Choosing methodologies that enable the development of cognitive skills of an object of knowledge considered sensitive, requires the teacher to do an intentional work so that students understand the importance of reflecting on the theme for their citizen education. The process of teaching and learning in the discipline of History provides the opportunity for the development of socioemotional skills important for the integral formation of the subject. This research presents a pedagogical strategy that makes it possible to approach sensitive themes in the history of the present time and the development of cognitive and socioemotional skills during the schooling process. Through the study of the history teaching in Brazil, sensitive themes are presented as essential at the present time to make learning objects of knowledge more meaningful for students and teachers. The study aims a reflection on the importance of the teacher's intentional work in the classroom in relation to the approach of sensitive themes as a necessity of the present time. As a methodological strategy for teaching work, a dialogue circle on black literature and anti-racism is the proposed learning situation for the intentional development of cognitive and socioemotional skills. As a final product, the research proposes a pedagogical workshop organization for teacher guidance in the development of socioemotional skills through sensitive topics in History classes. Advancing with intentionality in themes considered sensitive, requires teacher training and appropriate methodologies that overcome stereotypes that still consider sensitive themes as controversial and inappropriate for approach in the classroom.
