SUMMARY:

The last year of elementary school is a milestone in the lives of many teenagers. In
addition to having to deal with the demands of teachers, parents and often themselves in
relation to school performance, they begin to think about entering high school.
Law 13,415/2017 determines that there should be a new High School curriculum and
that it be composed of a common part (General Basic Education) and a flexible part (Training
itineraries). It is expected that the student will be able to deepen in one or more areas of
knowledge and/or in technical and professional training, according to the interest of the
students and the network/school's ability to offer and expansion of knowledge in areas of
interest to the students. However, so many changes in the curriculum can contribute to
increased anxiety among students.
The research is guided by questions related to the expectations that adolescents in the
9th year of Elementary School have in relation to the New High School, the level of anxiety
that this change can generate, and the motivation that public and private school students have.
in starting the New High School. The present study is configured with a qualitative research
design. And Ecological Insertion is the research method that will enable data collection
through the research team's entry into the study environment. It is intended that 6-12 students
from the 9th grade of elementary school from 3 schools in the city of Nova Friburgo
participate in the study. Totaling the participation of 18 to 36 students.
Teenagers' school life is made up of important milestones and analyzing how they deal
with each transition period is essential to better understand their performance. Therefore, by
recognizing the symptoms of anxiety, dealing with the expectations and demands of the last
year of Elementary School 2, students will be able to become more emotionally competent
and, consequently, they will be able to have better academic results.
