RESUMO:

The present study aimed to investigate the social phenomenon of school non-failure, hoping to compare individuals from public and private schools. This research justifies the need to investigate the positive factors in the school environment. The guiding questions of the research is: what are the social representations of public and private school students about school non-failure? What are the approximations and distances between these individuals' social representations of school non-failure? We will use as main reference for this investigation the Theory of Social Representations of Serge Moscovici, seeking from the structural approach of Jean-Claud Abric to identify the central and peripheral nucleus of these social representations. we propose a qualitative research, where we will use the Free Word Association Test (TALP) in the data collection from the term inducer "School non-failure", which will also allow a semantic analysis of these responses. The research was carried out in public and private schools in the State of Rio de Janeiro, involving 200 individuals, 100 individuals enrolled in public schools and 100 enrolled in private schools attending the last year of high school. We hope with this study to contribute to the understanding of the phenomenon of school non-failure, allowing from this the generation of more effective strategies for the improvement of school performanc
