This work aims to discuss the increase in domestic violence against children and adolescents during the pandemic. We will address the rise in child and adolescent domestic violence in the municipality of Barra do Piraí, State of Rio de Janeiro, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Preliminary data indicate an increase in domestic violence during the period when isolation was used as a measure for public health and reducing the transmission of COVID-19, making it necessary to conduct research that can contribute to investigating the consequences it has on the lives of children and adolescents. Given the collaboration between the education and social assistance sectors for reporting cases of domestic violence, we will analyze how the closure of schools impacted the rate of domestic violence against children and adolescents. The focus of this work is on domestic violence, and we will conduct an analysis and contextualization based on a literature review of public policies for child and adolescent protection. The project also aimed to gather this data in health and social assistance facilities through interviews with multidisciplinary teams. The research took place in the Child Psychosocial Care Center, Family Health Strategies, Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance, and the Guardianship Council. The interviews were transcribed, and their content was related to the entire bibliographic reference. Through this content analysis of the collected interviews, it was possible to observe an increase in domestic violence against children and adolescents in the municipality of Barra do Piraí. It is worth noting that there was a specific increase in sexual violence, which was observed by the majority of professionals in these facilities. These results provided a foundation for discussing the effects of children and adolescents being separated from the school institution and how it affects the reporting and combatting of violence.
