SUMMARY:

The general aim of this research is to investigate the main sources of psychological distress among primary school teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the incidence of this distress in teaching. The psychological suffering of educators has been the subject of much research in recent years and is a phenomenon that involves various social, relational, organizational, individual and political factors and aspects and affects the mental and physical health of teachers. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers already faced various difficulties and challenges in their work, such as lack of social recognition, school violence, student indiscipline, overwork, factors that contribute to other manifestations of suffering such as depression, burnout syndrome, anxiety and stress. With the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation has become even worse. Teachers have had to adapt quickly to a new form of remote teaching, without the pedagogical and technological support and preparation of schools. In this context, we asked ourselves what the main sources of teachers' psychological distress were during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, and we consider it essential to listen to what teachers say about the psychological distress generated by the pandemic and the impact of this distress on their teaching.  Thus, the topic is justified by the recognition that teachers have experienced a phase of psychological vulnerability during the pandemic due to the demands of virtual teaching practice, the challenges of using technological tools, the active search for students, evasion, and various demands. The methodology used will consist of a bibliographic review of the topic and a Google Forms survey with open and closed questions with elementary school teachers from the municipalities of Niterói (RJ) and Seropédica (RJ).
