SUMMARY:

The project refers to an analysis of university institutional racism in the context of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) from the perspective of Social Representations. During the work elaboration, some events occurred at UFRRJ that have been described as racism were rescued, by this way we could reach a little of the racial dynamics present in the institution. Theoretical references about the emergence of the institution in question and data about its members were explored. Parallel to this, an outline was carried out on the phenomenon of racism in the Brazilian reality. The objective of the work is focused on the attempt to identify the social representations about university institutional racism from the perspective of students, professors and employees of the institution. The methodology used is Content Analysis. Information will be collected by online questionnaires, focus group and also through interviews with some members who act more directly within the structural functioning of the university, these being deans, technicians and coordinators.
