SUMMARY:

The proposed research aims to analyze the effects of “legitimate” speech on the mentality and behavior of the masses (especially the phenomenon of collective possession), drawing from Carl Gustav Jung’s contributions, considering the convergence between language functions and the credibility levels of discourse, bearing in mind that different types of discourse can lead to varying degrees of individual and collective adherence, potentially rendering people cognitively immune to opposing arguments. To this end, an investigation will be carried out using an inductive method based on a qualitative approach to intertextuality. The data sources will be articles, books and other publications that help in achieving the objective according to the mass niche.
