SUMMARY:

Adolescence is a critical period for the development of cognitive, emotional, and social skills, with personality and executive functions (EF) being two key constructs in this process. In Brazil, the lack of adapted and validated instruments for assessing these constructs in adolescents limits the accuracy of psychological evaluations. This project aims to preliminarily adapt and validate two instruments for the adolescent population: the Teenage Executive Functioning Inventory (TEXI) and the Big Five Personality Trait Short Questionnaire (BFPTSQ), as well as to conduct a systematic review of the relationships between personality and EF in adolescence. The study will be divided into three stages: (1) a systematic review of the relationships between personality and EF, following PRISMA guidelines, with the goal of synthesizing the existing literature on the topic; (2) the cross-cultural adaptation of the TEXI, in accordance with the International Test Commission guidelines; and (3) the adaptation of the BFPTSQ, focusing on the Big Five personality traits. Both adaptations will include translation, expert panel evaluation, back-translation, and a pilot study. This project is unprecedented, as there are no records of studies that have adapted these instruments for adolescents in Brazil or systematically investigated their interrelations. The expected outcomes include providing reliable and culturally appropriate tools for the psychological assessment of adolescents, as well as contributing to more accurate and context-sensitive interventions, thereby representing a significant advancement in the field of psychological assessment in Brazil.
