Motivation, Sociability, and Internet Gaming Disorder in Multiplayer Online Games: Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Psychometric Validation of Two Instruments
Social interaction. Motivation. Cross-cultural adaptation. Online games
In a context of the growing expansion of the online gaming industry, there is a rising need for tools that can adequately assess motivation and social behavior in this setting. However, given this scenario, there is a scarcity of instruments available in Brazil. Therefore, this research aims to adapt and validate the MOGQ and SMOG instruments for the Brazilian population of adult online game players. Through an approach that follows international guidelines for the cross-cultural adaptation of psychometric instruments, careful steps will be carried out, including translation, back-translation, semantic evaluation, and linguistic adaptation of the questionnaires. Additionally, an analysis of the psychometric properties of the instruments will be conducted using statistical methods with IBM SPSS to ensure the validity and reliability of the results.
