SUMMARY:

This study aimed to analyze the processes of subjectivity production within the Escrevivências in Scene workshop, held at the Dona Ivone Lara Center for Conviviality and Culture (CECO) in Niterói, through the articulation between Escrevivência, inspired by Conceição Evaristo, and Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed. Grounded in an antimanicolonial perspective and Afro-diasporic epistemologies, the research adopted Escrevivência as both a method of knowledge production and analysis, bringing together participants’ narratives, theatrical scenes, and the researcher’s situated and implicated records. The analysis of three trajectories revealed that the device produces shifts in the ways experiences of suffering are narrated, enabling movements from silence to authorship, from stigmatization to collective recognition, and from individualized experience to the construction of shared knowledge. The circulation of speech, the legitimation of suffering and modes of existence, and mutual support practices configured care as a relational and collective process, fostering forms of aquilombamento. Writing and performance functioned as technologies of symbolic de-objectification, allowing racialized and marginalized experiences to be reinscribed within the social bond. The findings indicate that the workshop operates as an aesthetic-political device of care within the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS), sustaining processes of authorship, territorial self-determination, and collective memory production, while challenging manicolonial logics that fix pathologized identities and individualize suffering. Based on the identified social codes—authorship, recognition, collective knowledge, relational care, and destigmatization of experience—the study demonstrates that Escrevivência in Scene expands antimanicolonial practices in mental health. It concludes that the integration of Escrevivência and the Theatre of the Oppressed in the CECO context contributes to the construction of non-colonial modes of subjectivation, in which care is realized through the production of social bonds, circulation of knowledge, and the opening of possible futures, offering theoretical and methodological contributions to critical Social Psychology and to the strengthening of territorial practices in psychosocial care.
