Mindfulness: history and the perception of university students to an adaptation of protocol
Mindfulness; University students; Adaptation Protocol.
This master's thesis has set out to investigate practices and delve into the theory of mindfulness. Mindfulness means being aware of the present moment intentionally and directly and is a skill that can be enhanced by meditation practices. Thus, this work is presented through two articles. The first one deals with a qualitative field study in which the reports of university students of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro about their perception related to an adaptation of mindfulness protocol were evaluated. The results presented positive experiences regarding the adapted protocol and the need for practices in this format for university students. The second article presents a bibliographical research presenting the history of meditation, its insertion in psychology and how the practice of mindfulness appeared in this context. The studies made it possible to conclude that besides knowing the effects of the practice it is important to know its origins and its applicability. Contextualizing and understanding the timeline of meditation practices in psychology and mindfulness, enriches the knowledge and reflection of how these practices can be effective in the everyday life of the university student, for example, since it is already recognized that experience in university can be broadly anxiogenic and stress-generating.
