RESUMO:

This longitudinal study, with an experimental and a correlational design, aimed to evaluate the influence of a professional orientation in group of students on vocational maturity and indecision for professional choice. The aim of this study was to observe: whether there is a correlation between maturity and indecision vocational and sociodemographic variables as gender, type of school, professional experience and psychotherapy; compare the experimental and control groups; compare the results measured at different times of the investigation. The sample consisted of 78 students from the third year of high school from three different schools in the Seropédica city, which were divided in control and experimental groups. The experimental group attended PO intervention meetings for eight weeks. All students answered a socio-demographic questionnaire, the Professional Choice Maturity Scale - EMEP and the Vocational Indecision Scale - EIV, before and after the intervention period. The results identified in the retest showed that the experimental group increased their level of maturity and reduced their level of indecision when compared to the control group, in the same time period, indicating that the participation in the meetings of PO helped the process of vocational guidance at the end of high school.
