SUMMARY:

Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that accompanies an individual throughout their life course. Currently, there is an intense investment in studies that contribute to the early diagnosis and intervention of individuals with this condition, since early diagnosis acts as a protective factor for the development of children with ASD. On the other hand, studies with a population sample composed of adult individuals with ASD have received little attention in the literature and low investment in evaluation studies for this public at the Brazilian level. Thus, the scarcity of empirical works on the theme reflects the research problem underlying this Thesis which aims to translate into Portuguese, adapt to Brazilian culture and present evidence of validity for use in Brazil of the Ritvo Autism Asperger Scale - Revised (RAADS-R). The instrument consists of a self-report questionnaire, consisting of 80 items to be answered by the individual with ASD, accompanied by a clinician. This research will be divided into studies: 1) a theoretical study of systematic review, 2) a psychometric study presenting the results of cultural adaptation and translation of the Ritvo Autism Asperger Scale - Revised (RAADS-R) instrument, and 3) an article by evidence of scale validity. For data analysis, the SPSS software will be used, where the data will be subjected to factor analysis and internal consistency. In this sense, it is expected to contribute - based on the evidence presented - with theoretical production and evidence-based clinic, presenting an instrument translated and adapted for use in Brazil.
