SUMMARY:

This paper aims to research institutional sheltering of children and teenagers of the city of Seropédica in Rio de Janeiro, analysing the causes that lead to sheltering and mainly how was the action of the technical team (psychologists, social workers and pedagogues.) towards family reinsertion. The applied methodology was qualitative, exploratory and documentary. The participants were the technical team of Casa da Criança institutional sheltering situated in Vera Cruz, a neighborhood of Seropedica in Rio de Janeiro which receives children and teenagers from 0 to 17 years old. The procedure was analysing datas from MCA census (Módulo Criança e Adolescente) of the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro that holds information about the juvenile population sheltered in the whole state. A questionnaire was also applied individually using the digital platform Google Forms through a signed Informed Consent form, according to the Committee on Ethical Research with Humans regulation, respecting human dignity and the protection of its participants as well as the data and informations obtained through the research. Due to the low number of participants there wasn't any necessity to categorize the answers "a posteriori" in percentual and simples frequency according to Bardin's content analysis (2011), therefore the answers have been discussed in dialogue with the used Theoretical Reference.
