The objective of the present work is to discuss the relationship between the impact of school closures during the COVID19 pandemic and the increase in domestic violence against children and adolescents in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Violence against children and adolescents is a phenomenon treated as a social problem and also as a public health issue, due to the high incidence rate worldwide, associated with disorders and sequelae developed by victims. Due to the world pandemic of COVID19, some social isolation measures were taken as a method to contain the circulation of the virus and many realities and family contexts were changed. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the functioning of several institutions, including the school. Some data indicate the increase in domestic violence in the period when we use social isolation as a measure to control the pandemic. In view of this scenario, we propose to reflect on the effect of the pandemic on the increase in domestic violence against children and adolescents, taking into account the period of crisis and school closures. The fieldwork to be carried out, through semi-structured interviews, aims to apprehend, through the report of health and social assistance professionals, from the municipality of Barra do Piraí (RJ), how the closing of schools affected the complaint and the fight against violence. domestic, specifically with regard to children and adolescents.
